MUGA Resurface and Basketball Goal Installation – Tupton Hall School

Tupton Hall School approached Sportsafe regarding an existing outdoor basketball area which had been condemned due to age and multiple previous repairs that were no longer effective. Our projects manager Mark attended the site and identified the best way to approach the area is to install a porous sports macadam overlay as well as installation of additional drainage into the existing surface.

The first task was to provide a cut and channel chase edging to the perimeter of the court before power brushing to remove moss and debris. Once all prep was completed, the surface was drilled at 1m intervals and filled with shingle to aid drainage of the area. 25mm depth of 6mm dense porous sports tarmac was then laid. Once set in place, thermoplastic line markings were placed for 3 basketball courts, and the new x2 of the existing basketball goals were then replaced.

The newly renovated court provides a safe and durable playing surface for all users. The use of techniques to promote drainage allow for use throughout all seasons.
