Macadam Surfacing

Also known as tarmac or asphalt, there are various types and grades of macadam surfacing, which can be used in several combinations to provide the optimum surface. Many schools, leisure centres and clubs in the UK choose to have macadam surfacing installed for sports facilities.

Branfil Primary School desperately needed to find a surfacing solution to replace their existing carpet which sat underneath a trim-trail. The trail was unusable following a safety issue, causing the carpet to be taken over by a severe moss infestation.

The porosity of an open-textured macadam sports surfacing system helps to reduce the tarmacadam facility cost for maintenance as water can drain through it quickly and efficiently in wet weather. This means PE lessons, training and matches do not need to be called off because of rain and the surfacing can still be used.
