Rubber Remedials – Handford Hall

Following a Sportsafe inspection it was identified the outer perimeter of the crumb surface was in need of replacement due to lifting from the concrete surface in multiple areas.

To address the issue, the existing crumb at the edge had to be cut away and the area re-levelled to be flush with the existing blue crumb and concrete surface on the outside.

Additional to this, the school also had issues with safety surfacing where tree roots had damaged the original surface. The area was releveled and removed. We then installed with a rubber mulch to prevent issue re-occurring.

Our engineers attended in October half term and firstly ensured that the replacement area was clear of any obstacles. They then cut away the lifting crumb along the outer perimeter of the affected area. They then levelled to the exposed concrete surface to ensure a smooth and even base for the new crumb. The crumb area was then relevelled to be flush with the existing blue crumb and concrete surface on the outside. This helps to ensure a smooth and even surface for continued use. The new Wetpour Rubber Crumb & Mulch was then poured into the prepared surfaces, taking care to evenly spread the material and compact it into place. Leaving a very happy school business manager knowing it will no longer be brought up on the school’s risk assessments.
