Blackford CE Primary School – Play Tower and Rubber Mulch Installation

The Brief

Blackford CE Primary School approached Sportsafe looking for ideas and advice on re-vamping their outdoor play facilities in time for the new school term, specifically with a new Play Tower Unit.

Some different options were discussed with the customer and a choice of Play Tower design and colour of Bonded Rubber Mulch was chosen, ready for Sportsafe engineers to make a start on the install.

Installation

The team made a start by installing the Play Tower Unit into the existing grass surface and ensured that the surface was in a good condition, ready for the Bonded Rubber Mulch to be laid. The total safety surface area covered was 110.25m2, surrounding the Play Tower, with a depth of 40mm. The school selected a mix of black and brown rubber mulch to tie in with the surroundings, which was on top of a weed membrane to promote the longevity of the safety surface.

Outcome

Blackford CE Primary School were very happy with the outcome of their install, with it allowing their pupils to play outside in a safe environment throughout summer and enouraging social interactions between them.
