Key Focus Areas
We are driven by ambitious goals to ensure continuous improvement.
- Transition headquarters to 100% renewable energy by 2026: Commit to powering all operations at headquarters using renewable energy sources, supporting sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
- Reduce packaging by 70% through reusable solutions by 2028: Implement innovative, reusable packaging designs to minimise waste and lower environmental impact.
- Launch a sports scholarship programme by 2026: Support young athletes by introducing a scholarship programme to foster talent and provide financial assistance for their development.
- Provide free educational resources and advice to customers: Continue to expand Sportsafe’s robust platform, ensuring it covers all sports and PE by 2028. This platform will offer accessible educational materials and expert guidance to empower customers and promote informed choices.
- Establish an internal sustainability committee in 2025: Form a dedicated committee to monitor sustainability progress, identify improvement opportunities, and engage stakeholders on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.
- Adopt electric vehicles (EVs) in the fleet: Transition to 50% EV adoption by 2030 and achieve 100% EV integration by 2035, significantly reducing fleet emissions.
- Expand repair, refurbishment, and recycling services by 2027: Enhance existing services to promote product longevity, resource efficiency, and a circular economy.
- Transition to a sustainable product range by 2028: Replace single-use plastics with eco-friendly materials and prioritise sustainable alternatives across the product portfolio.
- Enhance apprenticeship and development opportunities by 2026: Increase opportunities for professional growth and learning through a comprehensive apprenticeship programme.
- Achieve a “zero landfill” policy by 2029: Work closely with suppliers and customers to expand recycling infrastructure and minimise waste, ensuring no materials are sent to landfill.
- Promote Inclusive Sports Access by 2027: Develop initiatives and partnerships to make sports facilities accessible to underserved communities and individuals with disabilities, fostering inclusivity and participation across all age groups and abilities.
Our Environmental Promise
Our commitment to caring for our environment, our customers and our staff affects everything we do and use, every day. We ensure that we maintain compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and guidance and seek to be good business citizens for our local location and the global environment. Through rigorous environmental management and ISO 14001 accreditation, we aim to minimise waste, conserve resources, and reduce our carbon footprint.
We prioritise using recyclable and sustainable materials, order only what is needed to avoid waste, and offer repair services to extend product lifespans.

- Lights switched off in areas that are not in use, and low energy lighting will be installed where appropriate. LED Lighting fitted throughout the warehouse
- Use Cloud based server to reduce the need of printed documentation
- Our office IT comprises a combination of new and refurbished equipment. Our furniture is quality second hand, where possible.
- Use of modern equipment, PAT testing and trained operation ensures optimal performance of electricity. All computer screens are switched off when not in use. Same applies for all electronic equipment in the office
- Mobile phone chargers and laptop battery packs are removed from the electricity socket (alternatively the socket switched off) when not in use
- In the warehouse, we specifically source quality, durable storage and container units for longevity and to reduce the need for frequent replacement
- Employees are encouraged to be water conscious; not leaving taps running unnecessarily
- Simple use paper and cardboard is recycled, shredded paper is taken away by third party specialists and recycled, whilst ink cartridges are handled by the printer provider
- We are specialists in repair. We advise and act with experience on each project for the benefit of both the environment and the client
- We only order what is needed to reduce waste
- Where possible, we buy recyclable and sustainable materials
- We buy from local suppliers to reduce the amount of emissions produced delivering items
- ISO 14001:2015 We are utilising in new packaging that can be reused by company – aiming for 60-70% reduction
- Sportsafe holds ISO4001, the internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems and efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.
We are dedicated to minimising our carbon footprint, and all aspects of our activities are planned and undertaken in accordance with our ISO14001 accreditation.
- We work with lease companies to source the most efficient and appropriate vehicles for the range of projects and distances our engineers cover. All vehicles are kept in top, serviced condition under the supervision of our Operations Director and we use the correct size vehicle for transportation
- We are keeping a close eye on the development of electric vehicles and how we could best use them in the future for our fleet management
- We monitor the CO2 usage through Fleet Tracker
- We meet compliance with London Ultra Low Emissions Zone – all lorries are Euro 6. We ensure our vans/lorries turn off engine when being unloaded
- Our Planning team specialises in the logistics of appointments to ensure clustering as much as possible to minimise travel distances and, therefore, impact on the environment
Social Responsibility
Our commitment to community and inclusivity extends beyond business.
As a company with a high percentage of young employees, we particularly love getting involved with the local community and other youth and sports initiatives. We sponsor several football teams, donate equipment to schools, and enjoy multiple, office-based, all-employee charity fundraising events.

We created the Sportsafe Academy as a premier training hub, designed to support skill development within the sports safety industry while promoting local employment and economic growth.
The Sportsafe Academy
- Increases the number of highly-trained professionals in multiple areas of business able to contribute their skills to the UK workforce.
- Gives our staff the practical ability to meet industry standards and compliance for equipment safety; digital proficiency for the management of software in a variety of applications; the confidence to handle face to face and phone interactions professionally.
- Welcomes diversity and inclusion. We aim to forge alliances with local educational establishments to see how we can support and encourage underrepresented groups to realise career opportunities.
- Aims to create a close-knit alumni community that is, in turn, able to share their experience and contacts with upcoming workforce generations.
Training needs are assessed on an on-going basis.
Sportsafe Apprenticeships
Following the successful flightpath of the apprentices that have already qualified through our programs, we aim to continue expand our apprenticeship provision.
With Sportsafe, young people will have the opportunity to learn about logistics, business operations, customer service, and digital skills to meet evolving national and global industry needs.
Community Engagement
We sponsor youth sports teams, donate equipment to schools, and host charity events to give back.
Inclusivity
We champion diversity within our workforce, partner with educational institutions to promote opportunities for underrepresented groups, and audit our hiring practices to ensure fairness.
Training and Development

The nature of our business means Sportsafe staff handle a wide range of materials in the offices, warehouse and on sites. Appropriate, compliant and safe disposal, recycling and refurbishment are supervised for more complex components such as wood, plastics, metals, electronics, packaging, hygiene waste, offcuts, aerosol output and rubber.
If a customer requests identification and traceability of materials we will ensure that all materials used on a job are traceable where appropriate…Nonconforming materials are identified…segregated and labelled
Health and Safety: Supported by external consultants and robust training programs, our safety-first culture ensures the well-being of staff and customers alike. Read more: Sportsafe works with a highly qualified external health and safety consultancy to keep us informed of the latest changes to legislation and providing exterior training for our staff. Our Health & Safety representatives meet with senior management to discuss and review all aspects of Health & Safety, in-house and out in the field.
Top management team shall review, discuss, and set quality, environmental and health and safety objectives to continually improve the effectiveness of the organisation and the management system.
We promote health, safety and welfare to all our staff right at the start of our recruitment process. Our induction for staff takes over two days to complete and Health & Safety is a significant part of this process.
We are recognised by several leading safety and development bodies including ISO 45001, CHAS, Alcumus SafeContractor, afPE and Constructionline.
