Hello, I am Arthur. I am French and I have been doing an internship with Sportsafe for three weeks. I had two goals with this internship: improving my English level and, as a basketball fan, discovering the different aspects of the sport industry. First of all, I have to say that the language was a real barrier for me because I couldn’t be the same person as in France!
Despite this, I was very well welcomed by the marketing team in my first week. They explained to me about their work and I had the opportunity to discover the different tasks they have to do. I also learned about social media management, social media advertising and a lot of other interesting things. Moreover, I had the chance to see the launch of an e-mail campaign and to see the team receive a lead on the same day. I especially loved when Sam explained to me the operation of Sportsafe’s website. I had never seen the background of a website before and I found it interesting to discover how code lines become the final website that customers see.
Furthermore, during my first week, I also learned about the different departments set in the same room as marketing team. There was the project team, the estimating team, and the sales team.
I spent some time with all of them. They were very friendly, and they did their best to explain me what they were doing. I had to be very focussed on what they told me because I didn’t understand all the technical terms but I found it all interesting. I could understand how the operation of the company works. Moreover, the sales team let me listen to some calls that they have with customers. Therefore, I learned about some customers’ needs.
The second week was very different from the first one as I changed floor and I engaged with people from a lot of different departments. I worked alongside the accounting team and the purchasing team.
With the first, I learned how to manage the accounts of a company as well as the methods used to check the reliability of the accounts. With the second, I could learn how problems of the customers or the suppliers are analysed and solved.
Finally, my last week at Sportsafe was my favourite. I was with the warehouse team; learning how to build and manufacture the various components that engineers need is extremely interesting. I am practical and love to learn new production methods.
In addition, I had the opportunity for one day to follow an engineer who checked the validity and the security of a fire station’s sports equipment.
Bonjour, je suis Arthur, je suis français et j’ai été en stage chez SportSafe pendant trois semaines. J’avais deux objectifs avec ce stage : améliorer mon niveau d’anglais et, en tant que fan de basket, découvrir les différents métiers de l’industrie du sport.
Tout d’abord, je dois dire que la langue était un véritable obstacle pour moi parce que je ne pouvais pas être la même personne qu’en France. En effet, je ne pouvais pas parler aux gens comme je suis habitué a le faire.
Malgré cela, j’ai été très bien accueilli par l’équipe marketing lors de ma première semaine. Ils m’ont expliqué leur travail et j’ai eu l’occasion de découvrir les différentes tâches qu’ils devaient accomplir.
J’ai pu être initié à la gestion des resaux sociaux, à la publicité et à beaucoup d’autres taches intéressantes. De plus, j’ai eu la chance de voir le lancement d’une campagne de publicite et de voir l’équipe recevoir une demande d’un potential client le même jour.
J’ai particulierement aimé lorsaue Sam m’a expliqué le fonctionnement du site Web de SportSafe. Je n’avais jamais vu l’arrière-plan d’un site Web et j’ai ete impressionne de voir comment les lignes de code deviennent le site Web final que les clients voient.
De plus, au cours de cette première semaine, j’ai également pu découvrir les différents départements installés dans la même salle que l’équipe marketing. Il y avait l’équipe chargee des projet, l’équipe chargee des estimation et l’équipe chargee des ventes.
J’ ai pu passer du temps avec tous. Ils étaient très sympatiques et ils ont fait de leur mieux pour m’expliquer ce qu’ils faisaient. Je devais me concentrer sur ce qu’ils me disaient parce que je ne comprenais pas tous les termes techniques. Mais c’était très intéressant. J’ai pu comprendre l’entreprise fonctionnait.
De plus, l’équipe des ventes m’a laissé écouter certains appels qu’elle avait avec des clients. Ainsi, j’ai entendu certaines demandes des clients.
Le deuxième à été très différent de la première. En effet j’ai changé d’étage. J’ai discuté avec des personnes travaillant dans différentes sections
avec la première, j’ai appris comment gérer la comptabilité d’une entreprise ainsi que les méthodes utilisées pour vérifier la fiabilité des comptes.
avec la seconde, j’ai pu observé comprendre comment les problèmes perçus par les clients ou les sous-traitant sont analyser et résolus.
Enfin, ma dernière semaine chez Sportsafe à été ma préférer. J’étais en effet avec l’équipe de l’entrepôt. Apprendre à construire et fabriquer les différents composants dont les ingénieurs ont besoins est extremement intéressant.
De plus, j’ai pu pendant 1 jour suivre un engénieur dans les vérifications des équipements sportifs de casernes de pompier dans le Sud de l’Angleterre
