Sportsafe are celebrating a fantastic new contract to carry out the inspections and repairs at over 100 prisons across England and Wales. Currently, the Ministry of Justice has multiple suppliers and wanted just one to provide the majority of services required.
Sportsafe were chosen over and above competitors as we are able to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for the prisons’ fitness suites, gymnasiums, sports halls, outdoor fitness and goals. The contract is a major win for Sportsafe having been in talks with the Ministry of Justice for almost a year.
Every prison in the UK has a gym with fitness equipment which requires a consistent, annual inspection to keep the facilities up to standard for the safety and wellbeing of both the inmates and staff.
The new contract, due to commence from February 2020 will begin with an annual plan of inspections together with a new schedule being drawn up for maintenance and repairs, emergency call outs and creating asset lists.
Sportsafe’s Operations Director, Paul Neill said: “We are excited to bring all of the Ministry of Justice inspection and repair work to us as their sole supplier, it will bring both a new way of working and an increase in their efficiency”.
Belinda Aleagha, Commercial Manager at the Ministry of Justice said: “We are very happy to award Sportsafe with the contract to carry out inspections and repairs to the Ministry of Justice prisons across England and Wales. It was very important that we appointed a company that were able to provide all the services we require. We look forward to working with them going forward”
