As we all know one of the pupils favourite pastimes is putting knots in ropes, this turns the rope from being a piece of gymnastic equipment into a swing. This may seem quite an innocent act but in fact represents a serious health and safety issue. One of the most common cause of accidents on a swing are collisions with other people, on top of this they also make a fantastic weapon for hitting fellow pupils with and can have quite devastating health effect if a pupil loses their grip when climbing the rope and slides down onto the knot. Knots in ropes also wears the rope prematurely and is a major reason why ropes have to be replaced. So please be vigilant and ensure the knots get removed before they become an expensive health and safety issue.
