Colchester-based Sportsafe UK has donated a new trampoline to the Stepping Stones Play and Learn Group, a nursery in the town centre which brings together children with and without special needs.
Group Co-ordinator Carol Nice contacted the company when the nursery’s old trampoline was no longer usable, and asked if the company could supply a new one. Carol says: “I was so delighted when they said they would give us a new one. Buying one would have cost us £600. It’s incredibly generous of Jon and Phil and all the staff. They didn’t just give us the trampoline and safety net, they installed it for us, too. It means all our children can bounce around – and enjoy exercising and enjoying themselves at the same time.”
Jon Neill, Managing Director of Sportsafe, says, “We’re a Colchester company, and proud of it, and we like to support the local community whenever we can. It’s important for all children to exercise, regardless of their physical and mental abilities, and we were only too happy to help.”
Stepping Stones was set up in 1991 to allow children with special needs to play and learn alongside other children. It caters for those with physical disabilities, syndromes, multi sensory disability, autism, visual or hearing impairment, delayed speech and even terminal illness. Children learn signing and get access to physiotherapists, speech and occupational therapists and specialist health visitors. The services benefit the children and provide respite care for parents.
