An invitation for your school to take part in a unique art and conservation event to celebrate Colchester Zoo’s 50th birthday sponsored by Sportsafe!

This is a fantastic opportunity for your school to get involved in a significant, cross-curricular education programme that accompanies an exciting public arts exhibition brought to you by Colchester Zoo and Wild in Art, in celebration of Colchester Zoo’s 50th birthday in 2013. For 12 weeks in the summer of 2013, the streets, parks and open spaces of Essex will be taken over by some unusual visitors… a herd of giraffe sculptures!

Your participating school or group will receive a Stand Tall education pack together with a 1.3m giraffe sculpture on which to create your own special design. In the summer of 2013, your giraffe will be displayed as part of the Stand Tall Schools’ Trail in a high profile location around Essex. At the end of the project, your giraffe will return home to your school or group as a permanent memento of the event.

Each participating school receives a 130cm high, blank giraffe sculpture that to paint that is yours to keep at the end of the event and a giraffe themed cross-curricular education pack featuring guidance notes on art and design and exercises to inspire learning around creativity, conservation and citizenship.

PLUS the first 50 schools or groups to sign up will receive a free outreach session, focusing on giraffes, delivered by Colchester Zoo’s Stand Tall School Coordinator.
