Our Facebook page showed the kit once it was finished; this is what it was all about…..
Holly Moore is an 11 year old Junior Modified Dragster driver from Sible Hedingham.
She races in Junior Dragster competitions held at both Santa Pod Raceway near Northampton, and Shakespeare County Raceway near Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Holly has been competing for 2 years and this season is competing with a new more powerful car.
The car is called Hyperactive and is a scaled down version of a top fuel dragster. It has a rear mounted single cylinder engine, yet is capable of reaching 85mph.
The track is 1/8 of a mile and contested by a time-bracketed race from a standing start initiated by timing lights that count down once both cars have lined up in the staging area. In Holly’s case that means reaching the finish line as close to 8.9 seconds or slower.
Reaction times at the start are critical as the races are so brief (although she must not jump the start) and so too are Race Elapsed Times (she must not reach the finish line quicker than 8.9 seconds). This makes for very intense racing!
The first event in the new car was at the Festival of Power at Santa Pod, and was the first chance to set the car up for competition. A recurring issue was Holly being way too fast and after a trip to see the stewards, the car had to be filled with weights to slow it down!
The large event meant many cars over numerous classes were participating all weekend, so Holly could only have the opportunity to do a handful of runs this time… However, as you can see, from the mascots in their hoodies to the coats, T’s, bags and tops, Team Hyperactive were smartly kitted out for the weekend and for many more to come!
