After two months of collecting tokens from the Daily Gazette and the Echo the winner of the School Tracksuit competition has now been announced.
Over 8814 tokens were submitted by 33 schools and the winner was decided by the average number of tokens per pupil with St Mary’s School in Ardleigh consisting of 117 pupils collecting the winning total.
St Mary’s managed to get the whole community behind them by involving the Friends of St Mary’s School and putting posters in all the local shops encouraging everyone to collect the tokens.
St Mary’s has 115 pupils starting in September but as the Year 6 leavers contributed to the tokens collected they will also be receiving a tracksuit for use in their new secondary school.
Headteacher, Donna Parker said: “What a fantastic surprise just before the summer holidays. The children and parents are delighted and looking forward to seeing the entire school in a school tracksuit. A huge thank you to Branded for also providing tracksuits for our leavers.”
The team from Branded visited the school to confirm the order – colours, measurements and the all-important school insignia.
Carl Barton, Clothing Manager added: “We were overwhelmed with the number of tokens that were collected and can’t wait to deliver the tracksuits in September.”
