Glade Academy school wanted to create a new Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA) on the school playing field because the old tarmac tennis court had started to crumble, was slippery and an unsafe surface for play and sport. The school required a cost effective solution to this problem and selected a MUGA for all year round play with minimal maintenance.

Installation

It was worked out that a suitably sized MUGA would be 25.0m x 16.5m, an artificial grass surface and line markings for one of the school’s favourite sports, football. A two-course open-textured macadam was laid above a graded stone sub-base foundation.

Then, a 25.0m x 16.5m artificial grass playing surface was constructed onto in-situ rubber shock pads. The MUGA area was then enclosed with 3m high perimeter fencing, accessed through a single and double gate.

Outcome

The MUGA looks fantastic and will provide an all year around sports facility for the children to enjoy.
